Living Your Truth

"Put aside all intellectual arrogance and surrender yourself humbly before your Divine Source."

Living Love: The Yoga of Yama & Niyama

When we get on the mat, there's often talk about "letting go". Through Yoga, we practice releasing the thoughts, ideas, and emotions that are weighing us down and holding us back from becoming one with our true Nature. We practice moving our bodies without expectations or judgments of our capabilities on a given day.

But what happens when we leave the mat?

Consider these journal prompts -

  • Am I showing up in the world with the same kindness, compassion, and humility I strive to practice with myself during Yoga class?

  • When does my Ego take over and dictate my thoughts? Words? Actions?

  • When do I notice it is most challenging to stay grounded in humility?

  • Are the philosophies of Yoga (compassion, non-stealing, truthfulness, non-excess, non-attachment, purity, contentment, self-discipline, self-study, and surrender) at the core of my life? Work/Business? Relationships? Spiritual practices?

  • How are my "truths" shaped by my experiences? What I was taught?

  • Where do my personal convictions and beliefs stem from?

  • Where do I have room to grow?

  • What patterns do I recognize that might be holding me back from this growth?

  • Do I acknowledge the truth of where I am in my process?

  • What qualities would I like to focus on developing in the coming month?
